Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze on Saturday claimed a bronze medal at the Sabre World Cup in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, adding another accolade to his impressive fencing career.
Bazadze secured his spot on the podium after an intense quarterfinal match, defeating his Tunisian opponent 15:14 in a nail-biting finish. However, in the semifinal, he faced a tough challenge against South Korean fencer Oh Sang-uk, narrowly losing 13:15 in a highly competitive bout.
The tournament, which took place from Friday to Saturday, is part of the International Fencing Federation’s prestigious World Cup series. Featuring some of the world’s top sabre fencers, the event is known for its high-level competition and serves as a critical milestone for athletes preparing for larger international championships.
