On Monday, the Georgian national women’s chess team emerged victorious in the ninth edition of the FIDE World Women’s Team Championship held in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The team secured their championship title by defeating their Kazakh opponents in both matches during the final stage.
Comprising the talents of Bella Khotenashvili, Meri Arabidze, Nino Batsiashvili, Lela Javakhishvili, and Salome Melia, the Georgian team competed in Pool A alongside formidable competitors from India, Ukraine, France, Egypt, and Kazakhstan.
