Fabrika Tbilisi is thrilled to announce its role as the host for the 96th Camp Meeting of Trans Europe Halles (TEH). The event, themed “REBOOT,” is scheduled to take place from October 5th to 8th, 2023, in Tbilisi.

Trans Europe Halles (TEH) est. 1983 is a member-led NGO, based in Sweden. It is a network of 160 grass roots, activist cultural centers in over 40 countries across and beyond Europe. The organization advocates for the DIY, independent, alternative cultural sector and advises conscious planners, developers and policy makers. TEH converts abandoned buildings across Europe into vibrant centers for arts and culture. By doing so, they transform their communities, neighborhoods, and cities.

Trans Europe Halles generates strong connections between grassroots cultural centers and enables them to fulfill their potential: activate communities, neighborhoods, cities and regions through arts and culture. They advocate for social justice, spatial justice and diversity in places where these values are challenged. TEH acts as a counterweight against displacement, abandonment, gentrification, segregation and other urban plagues. They stand up for what they believe to be the very foundation of democracy: citizen engagement, decolonization and freedom of expression.

The TEH Camp Meeting ’96, set for 2023, will spotlight Georgia and Fabrika Tbilisi as hosts. With over 200 representatives from European cultural centers and creative hubs expected to attend, this event is a unique platform for collaboration. It offers local cultural and artistic circles the chance to connect with European counterparts, fostering partnerships that can shape Georgia’s cultural landscape and reach beyond.
