Batumi Prepares to Welcome U18 World Chess Championships

The city of Batumi, nestled on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, is set to host the Under-18 World Chess Championships this month, as declared by the Government of Adjara, the autonomous region of the country.

A total of 457 contestants, aged between 8 and 18, hailing from 38 different nations will vie for the coveted prizes in this esteemed event in the western part of Georgia.

A preparatory meeting was held by Tornike Rizhvadze, the leader of the Adjara Government, with local agencies to ensure the event’s successful organization.

The championships will unfold over the week of June 5-12.
