Elena Naverian’s movie titled “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” achieved dual distinctions at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

The movie secured victory in the category of best full-length feature film. Furthermore, actress Ekaterine Chavleishvili, renowned for portraying Etero, the central character, clinched the top position in the “Sarajevo Heart” section for women.

Elene Navariani attributed the team’s triumph in Sarajevo to the cause of Georgian cinema:

“I wish to dedicate this prize to Georgian cinema, which currently finds itself in a challenging predicament, striving for unbounded and unfiltered cinematic expression,” she expressed.

“Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” was brought to life by Elene Naverian, drawing inspiration from Tamta Melashvili’s novel “Saba.” The movie had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival and represents the director’s third venture into feature filmmaking.

“Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” secured its spot in the extensive selection for the 2023 European Film Academy Award.
